Brief Summary:
The
poem 'Corona Says' composed by a Nepali poet Vishnu S. Rai presents the dreadful
picture of Corona Pandemic and its devastating impacts on human life. In the
poem, Corona is speaking to humans and denying that it is not responsible for the
pitiable death of countless people and the destruction caused on world economy. It
says that it didn’t come alone, but it came due to humans’ irresponsible, irrational
and impractical nature. Besides, humans consider themselves to be the owners of
the earth, so they misused the earth randomly for their commercial benefits and
immediate gain. As a result, it came as a plight. In another context, Corona
says that it came because it wanted to show us the state of nature with its
real appearance, make us realise about a caged life, give our earth rest but
not to give us a test. Finally, Corona warns that if we don't improve
our selfish, rude and greedy nature, Corona will come back one day again. Not
only this, if we think we are powerful and all in all, more devastating
pandemics will come with countless death and destruction.
