Full Fathom Five Thy Father Lies Important Questions Answers Class 12

Listen to the the audio file.

Q) Write the central idea of the poem “Full Fathom Five Thy Father Lies.’
The central idea of the poem is that human life is mortal, but art is eternal and immortal. Art is never dying. Though a person dies or leaves this physical world, his or her art remains forever and gives life to him or her. In this universe, there is death after life, but death is not an end of life. Rather it is an entrance to a permanent spiritual life.

Q) Do you agree that death is not the end of life? Explain with reference to the poem “Full Fathom Five Thy Father Lies.”
Yes, I agree that death is not the end of life. It is an absolute end but an entrance to spiritual life. In the poem, the dead body has been changed into something valuable. Ferdinand’s father’s dead body is neither decayed nor eaten up by sea creatures. Rather his bones are changed into coral and eyes into pearls. More, after his death he is welcomed and honoured by nymphs ringing death bell every hour.

Q) What is the relation between life and art? Describe briefly.
Life and death has indivisible relation because art gives life to anything else in this world. If a person has any artistic talent, his or her name, talent and fame cannot be destroyed by death. For example, even after years of Narayan Gopal’s death, his artistic life is meaningful and eternal. Though he is not with us physically, he is always in the heart and mind of Nepali listeners and audience. Thus, it can be strongly said that art and life is connected incredibly.
