Q) Where did the child go with his parents? What did he want there?
At the time of a spring festival, the child went to a village fair with his parents. In the fair, there were many attractive and colourful stalls, where many things were on sale. While moving towards the fair, the child was attracted towards many things, so he stopped at every stall. In the fair, he wanted to have toys, balloons, sweetmeats, garland and a round on merry-go round.

Q) What are the things that the child sees on his way to fair? Why does he lag behind?
When the child is going to the fair with his parents, he sees many colourful and attractive things on his way. On the way to the fair, he sees toys, balloons, garlands, a merry-go round and a snake charmer playing the flute. He lags behind in the fair because when he sees any attractive things he stops to enjoy watching them.

Q) Compare the child’s behaviour before and after he lost his parents.
The child was happy and excited before he was lost in the fair. He was attracted towards many things there. He stopped at every stall to enjoy watching them and request his parents to buy them for him. While moving towards the fair, he wanted to have many things like balloons, toys, sweets, a round for swing, etc.

But when the child was separated from his parents, he wanted to be with his father and mother. When he was lost in the fair, a strange man rescued him and offered him many things. But he didn’t show any interest in those things and kept on sobbing remembering his parents.

Q) Comment on the role of the rescuer in the story.
When the child was lost in the fair, he wandered for searching his parents. While searching his parents, he reaches at a temple, where a man rescues him out of the crowd of the people. After that, he tries to console him by offer him different things like balloons, sweets, swing, toys, etc. But he keeps on demanding his parents. Though the man is strange to him, he shows his love and kindness to him in order to calm him down and divert his attention from his parents.
