Q) What do you mean by language pedagogy?

Pedagogy is known as the method of teaching and learning. Mainly, pedagogy includes teaching methods and practices, teaching style, teaching theory, feedback and evaluation. Talking about language pedagogy, it is concerned with teaching and learning languages. It includes theories and practices related to teaching languages in different social, political and cultural contexts of language use. In the present time, the purpose of language teaching and learning is to develop communicative competence. On the other hand, language pedagogy is to teach learners about grammar, vocabulary, structures, pronunciation, reading, writing, etc. lf a learner learns a language in this way, he or she can analyse the language, read and write, but he or she may not be able to communicate by using the language. Due to this kind of teaching, learners are unable to speak and write effectively. So, for the effective use of language and develop communicative competence in learners, they must be taught about content or skills or both. Effective language teaching is possible through Content and Language Integrated Learning which encourages learners to develop skills, think critically, be creative and communicate.
